SPEEDWAY MAISTO BIKES

Our hand-painted 1:18 scale speedway bike models are where it all started for NUK. We can produce most liveries that are requested, not just the ones you see in the webstore. The bikes come in a Maisto presentation box and stand on a plinth, which can be unscrewed if necessary. The bikes have many moving parts including steering forks, swinging footrests and free spinning wheels. They are very realistic in appearance and also include rubber tyres.

SPEEDWAY RIDER FIGURES

Since July 2008 we have been producing our own rider figures in 1:18 scale. These are currently available in standing pose but we hope to expand on this in the near future to bring you figures in other poses too.
The idea for the standing figure was that many of our customers prefer to display their bikes on the plinths. The standing figure can be displayed alongside the bike on their plinths and compliment them very nicely. Understandably, this isn't the case for all our customers and some would prefer a rider in racing pose or other, so we are planning to develop more figures to give our customers a choice of figure in the near future.
The development of these figures is quite time consuming however, so it may take some time but we hope to be able to introduce a new figure sometime later in 2009.
The figures come in a sealable clear pack with NUK logo background sheet.
The figures can be produced as modern day riders or from year gone by. Some of the past riders we have done include Ivan Mauger, Kenny Carter, John Boulger, Freddie Williams, etc and we adapt the helmets to suit the era.

The standing figures are so versatile that we have been able to do figures of Road Racing riders and even Evel Knievel! The helmets are adapted to suit the style of the figure.

SPEEDWAY VANS

The Speedway Vans are smaller in scale to all our other products and come in 1:43 scale. We no longer stock these items as they aren't as popular as our other items so we order them on demand. Please allow for this as it may take more time as we wait for the product to arrive.

SPEEDWAY BIKE GRAND PRIX OPTIONS

One of our most popular of the Speedway bikes, the Grand Prix bikes come with a choice of fork cover design. Each Grand Prix has it's own sponsor on the fork cover, a list of which you can view here.
NUK BIKE CONVERSIONS

Although most Speedway bikes are similar in design, recently we have seen some new developments in the apprearance of the bikes. Martin Smolinski's bike (above) is one example, which uses a fairing incoporating the rear mudguard. Other fairing type bikes are also becoming more popular, such as Tai Woffinden's in 2008, amongst others.
Our Maisto models come as standard in the familiar laydown style but at an extra cost, we can usually convert these to look like the real thing. The time and work involved to convert these as one-offs is reflected in the price.
Other conversions include cutting down the side covers which were familiar in the mid 90's when laydowns were first introduced. This is available at a much lower cost than the "fairing" conversions as there is less work involved.
NUK "SQUARE STYLE" REAR GUARDS

The Maisto models come as standard to us with a round shaped rear guard. These were widely used by riders until recently, when most decided to switch to the "square" shaped guard, known as the KC rear (named after Kenny Carter apparently).
These are available as an optional extra when ordering a bike, but are inclusive on larger orders, such as Full Team bike sets and Rider & bike sets.
NUK FRONT WHEEL SPOILERS

During the mid 90's, front wheel spoilers became very popular among riders. That is until they were deemed to have caused Tommy Knudsen to crash in a Grand Prix and they quickly faded out. On request we can add front wheel spoilers to an order. They were usually fitted to both sides of the wheel, unlike the rear spoilers which are on one side only. Rear spoilers come as standard but can be removed on request, as the latest growing fashion among riders seems to be not to use rear spoilers!

CUSTOM PLINTH STICKERS

The bike plinths come with the Maisto gold sticker as standard, but for a small extra cost we can remove these and replace them with custom plinth stickers with your choice of wording and logos. These can be ordered with the bikes or on their own.
CERTIFICATES
FREE
NUK certificates are available on request. These basically detail the production number of the bike and the month and year it was produced and fit inside the presentation box behind the bike.
DISPLAY CASES

We have a supplier who produces quality glass display cases with choice of baize base colour. We don't stock these items and are ordered on request and shipped direct to the customer from our supplier. Prices on application.

We are working towards producing NUK merchandise which we hope to include clothing, mugs and other items. This has been a target which is still ongoing but we hope to bring more news of these in 2009.
NUK vinyl stickers are still available to buy at £1.50 each or free on request with every bike or rider figure order.
