Front Wheel Spoilers
FRONT WHEEL SPOILERS
One of many Speedway "fads", Front wheel spoilers were introduced to the sport around 1993 and were used by a number of riders including Hans Nielsen, Tony Rickardsson, Tommy Knudsen, Simon Wigg, etc. Two spoilers were usually fitted to the front wheel, one either side. These were great areas for sponsors logos to be displayed.
However, in 1995, Tommy Knudsen crashed during a Grand Prix meeting and from video footage it appeared the front wheel spoilers were to blame for the accident as the dirt had hit his front wheel and forced his forks to turn sharply, which threw him off the bike. From then on, riders stopped using them.
To make our bikes more authentic, we can now offer these as an optional extra.
